My 3D model

On March 6th I got myself 3D scanned at NYCAP. It was my first time doing it, didn’t know what to expect. Their photogrammetry rig was so cyber looking and I started to feel like a virtual being…

Got the scanned 3D model file back pretty quickly. I was so nervous to open it and wasn’t able to calm down for a while when first saw this 100% precise reproduction of myself in 3D.

I noticed that the texture is still very rough, and learned that a 3d scan needs to be cleaned up & optimized before being ready to be used…

Then I started my 30hr+ journey of post production. Dug around online and found a workshop demonstrating what I wanted to achive. Apparently in order to get this type of result, I need to learn Wrap, Zbrush, Maya??? Being a beginner 3D software user who has only used Blender, my head exploded multiple times while following through this workshop.

A very interesting I learned that in order to get a clean result reletively quickly, I need to fuse my 3D self with another professionally retopologised 3D person — an asset created specificly for this purpose. And this process is a standard in the game and film industry.
